Can I reset my password before I have edited my profile?
No. Resetting your password requires you to answer the security questions in your profile, so setting up your profile is the first thing you should do.

Can I change my password even if I can't remember my current password?
You can reset your password at https://mp.lesley.edu/ if you have set up your profile.

What is the password policy?
1) Passwords must have a minimum length of eight (8) characters
2) Passwords must include at least 3 out of 4 of the following:
· At least 1 upper-case character
· At least 1 lower-case character
· At least 1 special character (&, *, $, etc.)
· At least 1 numeric character
3) Passwords cannot contain all or part of your email address
4) Passwords will expire after 180 days
5) Passwords cannot be re-used
If your new password fails to meet these requirements, you will get a page telling you what rules you did not meet.

I am locked out of my computer, what do I do?
If you get locked out of your computer due to entering an invalid password multiple times, you can go to another computer and access the https://mp.lesley.edu site to unlock your account or reset your password. If you are unable to access another computer, wait 30 minutes and try again or call the IT Help Center at 617.349.8770.

What happens if I answer my profile questions wrong or enter my existing password incorrectly a number of times on the myPassword website?
If you give the wrong answer to your profile questions or enter your existing password incorrectly a number of times, you'll be locked out of the myPassword website for 15 minutes. When the 15 minute lockout period has expired, you may access the myPassword website again.

I can't remember the answers to my profile questions, what do I do?
If you are attempting to unlock your account or reset your password on the mp.lesley.edu site and you don't know the answers to your profile questions, call the IT Help Center at 617.349.8770 and ask to have your password reset. You can then go to the mp.lesely.edu site where you must Edit your Profile and then Change Your Password.

When I change my password and click on the Generate password button, a password is generated but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?
When you select the Generate password on the Change Password page, and see a password that you like, you must click on the Change Password button below to activate the password.

Can I copy and paste my generated password?
No. The website disables the copy feature. Until you are comfortable with the new password you can open a Word document or some other text application and note the password, or temporarily jot it down on a piece of paper. NOTE: If you write down the password you should keep the paper hidden, and destroy it as soon as you've memorized the password.

On the Change Password page, I entered my user name and password but when I hit enter nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?
You cannot submit information using the enter button on the change password page. Also, on the change password page, you cannot use the tab to move down from the "generate password" button to the "enter password" button. You must use the mouse to move to the different fields.

Why doesn't anything happen when I click on the submit button?
When a user clicks submit it may not be obvious that it's doing anything until it responds but something is happening. Browsers vary by how they display indicators in the top bar or bottom bar. It might take a few seconds to respond, so please be patient.

Why does my Inactivity timer reset itself?
Any automatic content updates in a browser will cause the inactivity timer to restart even if there's no mouse or keyboard activity. If a user has a toolbar with news updates, the timer will restart every time the news bar updates. Internet Explorer also has an SSL information bar that updates in default installations that will update twice during the first 30 seconds.

What do I do if I get a "transaction aborted" error or an "internal server error" page when I try to return to the myPassword site's main menu?
If you receive an error such as one of those mentioned above, please wait a minute and then try to use the system again.

Why do I get a "Potentially dangerous request" error message?
Passwords that contain a < symbol give an error message about a "potentially dangerous request". Whether clicking Generate Password for a random password or specifying one yourself, if it contains a < symbol, it returns an error message and won't change the password. You can either generate a new password, or enter a new password of your choosing.

Why does my Outlook application on my desktop keep asking for a password to connect to the server after I made a password change, even though I entered the new password?
If Outlook was open while you changed the password, and entering the new password doesn't work to connect your Outlook to the server, quit out of Outlook. Log in again and enter the new password. There may be a delay.

Why aren't I getting email on my iPhone after I changed my password?
The email application on the iPhone doesn't prompt for a new password after you change your password. You have to go into the email settings and enter the new password. Your phone will then start downloading your email.

What do I do if my iPad keeps generating the same random password when I click on the Generate Password button?
If the random password is not to your liking, and clicking on the Generate Password button doesn't generate a different password, just create a new password yourself in the section below by choosing the button before Enter. Remember to click on the Change Password button to activate the password.
